The black I put in has pretty much washed out so I'm kinda brown now. Will I need to bleach my hair anyway for the streaks? I waited for the black to wash out just so I wouldn't have to do that, but I've got a suspicion I might have to anyway.

Yeah because just straight red on brown hair turns orange. I'd bleach it first and dye it red a few days later to give it some chill time.

I know some hair stylists who know a way to dye dark hair a different color with out bleach, but its really expensive.

It depends on how dark your brown actually is, you might get away with using a very intense red permanent colour

You could tint it red, but you'd have to bleach to get it completely red (i think)
