I have african-american hair that's tightly curled. I pressed my hair with RED ceramic iron but

out like a light press and it wouldn't stay curled. I just used olive oil oil sheen on before ironing but it didn't work. What should I do? Does anybody know a professional I could go to? thanks.

Along with the oil u should use some kind of light holding spray. Not a lot because you don't want buildup......... And when straightning curly hair, always use small sections...

the only thing i can think of is going to an afro salon and getting it relaxed straight..but that's permenant...the only other thing is to start with it wet and take extremely thin sections one at a time. do no use any kind of oil before straightening at all...you be frying your hair. wash your hair and put in some fabric conditioner...do not wash it out...towel dry and section accordingly.....use your irons on these thin sections and hopefully the weight of the conditioner will help dry the straightness in....hair is made up of hydrogen bonds...every time you wet your hair these are broken and as it dries they reform holding in whatever style you have put in...if you want straightness you have to break the bonds first and reform them as you dry with your irons. good luck.

Give Mixed Chicks deep conditioner a shot before you press next time (www.mixedchicks.net). They also have a salon locator for salons that deal with curls.

Good luck.
