Red hilites in very dark blonde hair?

I have very very dark blonde hair (almost looks brown). I usually get light blonde hilites. I was thinking of also getting red hilites, like red red or auburn, not orange carrot top red. What do you think? Will the red ones fade pretty quick? Should I only get 2 or 3 streaks of red?

i'd die your hair a darker brown to make the red look good , then have some blound lowlights and highlights but it depends on your skin tone too so you could just consult your hairdresser.
