if your hair is dark already then I wouldn't worry about going to a salon. Just go by an auburn or burgundy shade that you really like. I like herbal essence the best.

I've had great results from the box, and I've had great results from the salon. The big difference is about sixty bucks. If you're just going for all over color and your hair is already dark, try to do it on your own with the box. I personally like Loreal color products, especially Feria Shimmer.
