Tips for Dying Hair A Shade of Red?

My hair right now is dyed, and it's a reddish brown shade, but I want to make it a bit more redder. My skin tone is warm, but very fair, and my eyes are a light blue. Are there any ideas as to what shades I should try?

Thanks!

If your hair is already colored, you need to pay very close attention to two things, the first being that color won't lighten color. Sometimes it will, but it's never predictable. Two, if you have any regrowth ( roots ) and you slap on a box of color, your roots and the ends of your hair are going to be two different colors, especially if your going with something lighter. Reds fade the fastest but they are also the most difficult color to get rid of. If your determined to do it yourself, make sure you match up roots before you try to change the over all shade, after you do that, Loreal is a very strong color that will most likely get you that redder shade you want.

I have naturally dirty blonde hair and have went red head about 6-7 months ago....i am also fair skinned and have light blue eyes....love it.......depending on how well your hair takes to dye you might want to get a darker red, only because red is a fast fading color..... so after about a week or 2 you will really get the red you want...i don't know if your using box dye or if you are going to a salon. I go to a salon cause I was petrified to do it myself :)

Red is tough. The red pigment does not stick to hair like blond, brown and black, hence the fading someone else mentioned.

I'm not sure on shades, but you will definitely want to use a shampoo and conditioner for red hair only - maybe one of those from a beauty supply store with actual temporary red color in it. Red fades bad, and the darker it is the more it fades. Be prepared for a lot of upkeep.
