my hair turend redish at the top when i dyed it last nite

at the bottoms it still has my blonde

i naturally have light brown hair and wanted it back that color

Most all hair colors have red as the base pigment. You can't make brown without red as the base. I'm not sure how blonde your hair was before, but it sounds like you "filled" it with the light brown color and it turned red. Sometimes this happens if your hair is very blonde, and it might not grab or take all of the color.

Or might what have happened is sometimes with box color, the wrong tube of color might have been placed in the box. It's always safe to check the tube before you buy it to make sure it matches and says what it is on the front.

I'd just go ahead and color your hair with another light brown color, but make sure it has an ash or neutral base, and pick a shade that's a little lighter than what you want your result to be because box color tends to usually grab darker. Or go see a professional colorist, and he/she can get your hair fixed :]

If you used boxed hair dye from Wal-Mart when you colored last, that's probably why. You need some bleach. I recommend something like Kleidocolors (the blue powder). You can get it from a store Sally Beauty for 3 or 4 bucks a pack. I've found that 20 volume developer is better for dark hair.

If you already used bleach when you colored it and it is VERY red, either you didn't leave it on long enough, your developer was not a high enough volume.

If it's just a little red, you need to put a toner on it.
