How do I get the red out of my newly dyed hair?

I just box dyed my hair. I have long hair, it was light blonde ... I needed two boxes, I took the dark blond and light brown and mixed them together. Now I have a red tint at my roots but the rest of my hair is fine. What do I need to do to it to get the red out? I'd rather not go to a hair professional. Thanks!

I am a hair pro (12yrs) you need to counteract the red with an ash tone. I would usethe same level- # on the box or 1 darker - so if you used a 7 dark blonde- use a 7 or 6 ash based color. Green neutralizes the red. You will get a natural looking color. Apply to roots only. good luck!
