I want to put red streaks in my dark brown hair. What are the best ways i can do this?

I have dark brown hair and i've wanted red streaks/highlights put in for ages. My mum and I have tried loads of things but they hardly show up. I've told my mum that we have to lighten my hair first before i can do this. Is this true? and do i have to use bleach? We have'nt gone to the hairdressers to do it because its pretty expensive. I have found one product by schwarzkopf called brilliance luminance or something like that but unfortunately It doesn't seem available in england or anywhere on the internet to be honest! I thought they might only sell it to salons. Brilliance Luminance is especially for dark hair and you get amazing colours! please help :)

hairdressers or buy the stuff yourself get tin foil cut in streaks put under the prts ov the hair u wnt to highlight and there yu go lol

This is your hair we're talking about. It's very important. For your first time, try to save the money and have it done professionally. Ask lots of questions about what they are doing in each step. Watch carefully. From then on out you can try to copy this at home...but for the first time I would see a colorist.

You will have to lighten some of your hair...but in addition, the red will fade extremely fast. I don't know why but I do know that when I had it done, I was told it would fade super fast, and within I'd say a month, it did.

i had the same problem. i went to a hairdressers in england and they bleached it first then put in the color - it lasted for a whole year though! and i grew it out.

have you tried natural henna? that makes your hair a warm red color. buy at most indian shops
