Getting red/orange tones out of your hair?

I bleached my hair and the color turned out like a reddish blonde.. So then i dyed it medium ash blonde and my hair is still reddish blonde. I want to get my hair to a light medium brown but i don't want red in it. What color would give me a nice shade of brown?

I would suggest using L'Oreal Feria if you dye your hair again because their colors tend to sway away from the orange hue a lot of other brands tend to have, plus its multitonal and makes the hair look more natural. Anyway, from my experience, if you are blonde and try to dye your hair a light brown, it kinda turns to a greenish/gray color if you don't go dark enough or use a semi permanent. Your best bet is to go to a salon, but if you are dead set on doing it at home, this site has some tips and tells you what hair colors go best with what "before" colors. Good Luck! http://www.lorealparisusa.com/haircolor/...

Go to the salon. They'll be able to fix it. You should always color your hair professionally.

After having turned my hair flourescent or bus orange as I love to call it, I would strongly recommend investing in a trip to the salon. Reds/Oranges are hard to handle by your self, believe me I know and the transition will be easier when it grows out if you get it done.

do not dye your hair anything that has ash in it that makes your hair really hard to dye and turns it grey. Use a light brown by loreal and it should help it out but wash your hair like 5 times in a row to get some of the ash off of it so that it doesnt mess up your hair.

Depending where your from (me being Aussie) u can buy a product called 'magic silver white' which takes brassy colours away from blonde. However there a many 'purple' shampoos u can buy which do the same thing but just mite take a few washes before achieving the results. Also u can buy varying toners which have a purple component to them which also eliminate the brassy tones. These are more damaging to the hair so u should speak to a specialist to find the tone that right for you.

Go to the salon and ask for a malibu.

You need to have it done professionally. Some people just naturally pick up other colors ( I always pick up reds) and they require a toner to avoid the undesired outcome. This is difficult to achieve at home and needs to be done by someone who knows what they are doing and has the products on hand to counter act any undesired colors.

there is this stuff called fanciful and you can get at the drug store. Get the one for grey hair. It really works good for covering brassiness. I have reddish tones in my hair and I use loreal light ash brown and it does not turn my hair grey or green. The ash cuts the red. Loreal is the best to use if you are going to use something from like say the drug store. You are really gonna need a good conditioner because all that color is going to take a toll on your hair. The best thing would be to go to a salon. After you spend all that money on different dyes you are gonna end up spending as much if not more than you would if you just went and got it done right. I speak from many RED AND ORANGE experiences!

To obtain satisfactory results, select the color filler that will replace the missing primary. Always remember that all three primaries, red, blue and yellow must be present for natural looking hair color. For example, if you have blonde (yellow ) hair that is being tinted back to an ash (yellow and blue) brown you will have to use a red filler so that end result will be correct. You already have red and yellow, so what you need is a blue based color.
