HOW can I get my hair blonde again/ take out the RED!?

So- about three months ago I decided to buy the box die..the color auburn. (It was blonde before that)..Well it turned veryyyy red and I hated it. I went to the hairsalon to try to get it dyed blonde again, but they tried to bleach it and everything and said that I'd have to wait another month and try again because the red would not come out. Well I never went back because I didn't have the money, so instead..about 3 weeks ago I bought another box of dye..it was a medium brown. Now my hair is like a brown/red. It's been 3 weeks now..and I cannot STAND my hair color. I just want it to be blonde again. I'd like to try to get it blonde/blonder again on my own before spending 100's of dollars at a hair place (I know people say box dye is bad but its always been fine for me) . . what color do you think I could buy to get my hair lighter blonde and take out the red?

get an ash blonde. that tones down reds.

sometimes ash looks grayish or purple on me though, but it usually rinses out after a few days. but it definitely gets the red out.

oh and make sure you don't buy any colors that have the word golden in them.

Buy a streaking cap- you can buy these from any hair salon supply shop, and buy a tub of powder bleach and liquid creme to mix with it and gradually get your hair blonde by adding natural higlights this. Whatever you do, do not completely bleach your hair because it will make it very dry and frizzy. Or you cn buy normal hair dye from most stores that lightens hair, normal blonde hair dyes will not take to red hair. x

I agree, you should go ash blonde and then go out and get a toner to take any brassiness (red or orange color) out of your hair....there a really good one, gosh i forget what it's called now...i think its german, it come sin a can kinda its like...shwartz-something im sorry i forget %26gt;.%26lt; but it comes in a silver thin can and has blue on it. bleach it out. get a white out kit and it should strip the color out of it, and then if that color id too light bleach it a nicer blonde color.

it's really hard to go from darker to lighter...i know you said you don't have the $$$-but you need professional help-NOT from a salon like Mastercuts,Fantastic Sams, or Regis-those people are just trained the bare minimum-you need to go to a progressive salon in your town where the stylists have on-going training-companies who sell hair color have huge training seminars and those little po dunky salons dont participate. you need to ask around and find out who has expertise in color-b/c it CAN be corrected-from personal experience-don't use an ash color though-I did that and my hair came out a light pink. I have spent tons of money trying to correct my mess ups-and I learned along time ago to get professional help for my hair!!
