Can my hair be dyed to my natural color (med.brwn) without having any red pull through?

Really...my concern is that I have MANY colors layered in my hair from dying for the past kajllion years, in the salon %26amp; at home. The dye that's most recent now is a dark-dark brown (almost a yr ago) %26amp; bleached highlights (partial-half yr ago). I want to get it back to my natural color but without exposing ANY red...is this possible? My natural color is probably a litttle lighter than my dark-dark brown dye under my highlights and throghout the bottom of my hair. Stylists have told me that in order to get the dark a little lighter %26amp; the light darker (without using bleach) some red will pull through...Is this true at every salon or are these stylists being lazy?? I've seen girls BOX DYE their hair ALL different colors never having red shown %26amp; they'll go from blonde to a pretty brown back to blonde again...any comments appreciated!!

My hair pulls red too, but you can avoid it by using a dye with an ash tone to it, I know it sounds drab, but it'll bring you more towards the color that you're going for without pulling it towards red.

i would strip your hair of the color you dyed it. ask your stylist to do that.

then just dye it to the color you want it and the color wont show through.

it might cost alot tho.

Honestly i depends on the dye. When you buy hair dye, on the side with the ingredients it will tell you what colors of dye are involved to make that specific color. Red tones are very common in brown dyes. so if you can find a brown that doesn't contain any red in it, then your good. I had the same problem and a woman at Sally's beauty supplies helped me out.

Medium brown is usually the color used to cover any kind of "dye jobs" but it is still possible for other colors to come through.

Red is the HARDEST color to keep and the HARDEST to get rid of. You may just want to let it grow out or have a red tint to your brown hair. Either way yes, red will most likely show through. To what extent i really couldn't tell you.

Here in La la has it right. Go for an "ash tone" color. My dark brown goes auburn in a week if I don't use an ash tone color.
