actually the red molicule is the largest(not the smallest) its like trying to fit baseballs in a gumball machine..LOL...well better understanding for you is the color red molicule needs enough protien in your hair for it to latch on inside your cuticles.and highlighting removes a lot of protien. since the red is so large it tends to fall out quickly..i am a hairdresser specializing on color and color corrections....definitly need the right shampoo to maintain this or it will fade out very quickly.. i recommend the redken color extend shampoo and conditioner and the redken total recharge spray..its a color locking spray.....good luck hun!!

I don't have any pictures, but my daughter and myself have exactly what you are talking about. It will look gorgeous! Your hairstylist will have a book with different reds to choose from. One thing to remember with reds, they tend to fade more than any other color, so make sure you use a good shampoo and conditioner for color treated hair. Also, after getting your hair colored, don't wash it for a couple days. Good luck!!

yeah it'll look good! i actually got that done and i really liked it. i dyed my hair a chocolately brown w/ red undertones and added some red highlights in the front- theyre sort of coppery, enough to see them, but still subtle. not like BAM im a redhead wannabe lol

make sure that once you get the highlights done you buy shampoo and conditioner specially formulated for color treated hair otherwise it'll wash out very quickly. the red molecule is the smallest hair dye molecule which makes it really hard to stick to hair strands and washes out easily so be careful! its been 2 weeks and my red highlights have faded considerably but you can still see em in the sun :]
