It will lift and color on dark natural bases in one step.

Otherwise ,you have to bleach first,(up to any orangey color) and then tone it red with a red semi-permanent, or manic panic type temporary color. You could use a permanent red as well, but since all reds fade ALOT,especially on pre-lightened hair"; using a less permanent product will be less drying each time you have to refresh it.
